Authorize device clients to use organization licenses

You authorize device clients to consume an organization’s licenses by using device client groups.

Learn more about groups and how you authorize access to licenses with them.

View which device client groups have access to licenses

On an organization’s Entitlements page in SysAdmin, you can see which device client groups have access to the licenses in each entitlement:

  1. In the left sidebar, go to ENTITLEMENTS > Organization.

  2. Search and select the organization, and click Confirm.

    The organization’s entitlements table opens.

  3. Select an entitlement, and go to the Authorized consumers > Device client groups tab.

The table shows all of the organization’s device client groups.

Check the Has access column to see which groups have access to this entitlement.

Grant access to licenses to device client groups

Before you start:

To grant device client groups access to an entitlement’s licenses:

  1. From the organization’s Entitlements page, go to an entitlement’s Authorized consumers > Device client groups tab as described above.

  2. Select the device client groups to grant access to, and select Actions > Grant access.

Device clients in those device client groups can now start consuming the licenses.

To add device clients to the authorized groups, you can invite them to the groups.

Similarly, you can remove device clients from the device client groups to remove their access to the licenses.

Remove access to licenses from device client groups

When you remove a device client group’s authorization to an entitlement, the device clients in the group lose access to the licenses, and any seat reservations made for the device clients are released (unless the device clients belong to another device client group that allows them access to the same licenses).

To remove access to an entitlement’s licenses from device client groups:

  1. From the organization’s Entitlements page, go to an entitlement’s Authorized consumers > Device client groups tab as described above.

  2. Select the device client groups and select Actions > Revoke access.

If a device client is currently consuming an organization license it no longer has access to, it’s able to continue consuming the license until the license lease expires or the client application tries to refresh the lease, whichever comes first.
