Manage entitlements

In OrgAdmin, your licenses are organized into one or more entitlements: containers that hold the licenses and that you also use for managing user and device client access to the licenses. You can create and manage these entitlements, and if needed, move licenses from one entitlement to another in OrgAdmin.

Your organization must have at least one entitlement to store your licenses, and in many cases, one is enough. However, there may be cases where you want to create multiple entitlements as “containers” for organizing the licenses that you have purchased. One of the entitlements is set as the default entitlement. If you need to change your default entitlement, contact your license vendor.

As an example, if you have purchased licenses for four different products and your license vendor has provisioned all licenses in the same entitlement, you may want to move each product’s licenses to their own entitlements. This allows you to have better control over who can consume which product’s licenses.

If needed, the functionality related to managing entitlements can be disabled in OrgAdmin.

View entitlements

  1. In the left sidebar, go to Entitlements.

The list of your organization’s entitlements opens, showing information on each entitlement such as the entitlement type and name.

The entitlement type is Default for the default entitlement, and License container for entitlements created in OrgAdmin. Note that other entitlement type values can appear if entitlements and custom types are created by the vendor.

  2. To view an entitlement’s details, click the Tools menu > View details for the entitlement.

A dialog opens, displaying the entitlement’s details. You can define which user groups or device client groups have access to the licenses of the entitlement by clicking User groups or Client groups. You can also check which licenses the entitlement holds by clicking Licenses.

Create an entitlement

  1. In the left sidebar, go to Entitlements and click Create. A dialog opens.

  2. In Name, define a name for the entitlement.

  3. In Description (optional), enter a description of the entitlement.

  4. Click Create to create the entitlement.

Next, you can move licenses to the new entitlement (see below), and define which user groups or device client groups have access to the licenses of the entitlement.

Move a license to another entitlement

If your organization has multiple entitlements, you can move a license from one entitlement to another.

If the license has seat reservations or blocked seats, those are carried over to the new entitlement.

  1. In the left sidebar, go to Entitlements.

  2. On the entitlement list, click the Tools menu > Licenses for the entitlement that contains the license to be moved. A dialog opens.

  3. Click Move for the license.

  4. In the dialog that opens, select the entitlement where you want to move the license, click Move, and then click Yes to confirm.

Next, you can define which user groups or device client groups have access to the moved license.

Edit an entitlement

  1. In the left sidebar, go to Entitlements.

  2. On the entitlement list, click the Tools menu > View details for the entitlement.

  3. In the dialog that opens, click Edit.

  4. Edit the details. This is done in the same way as when creating a new entitlement.

  5. Click Apply.

Delete an entitlement

If needed, you can delete entitlements that do not hold any licenses, except for the default entitlement. If an entitlement you wish to delete holds any licenses, first move the licenses to another entitlement.

To delete an entitlement:

  1. In the left sidebar, go to Entitlements.

  2. On the entitlement list, click the Tools menu > Delete for the entitlement.

  3. In the dialog that opens, click Delete to confirm.
