Revoke licenses

In 10Duke SysAdmin, you can revoke licenses from an organization or user.

You can suspend licenses temporarily, or even permanently delete them if needed.

Limitations

  • You can only suspend a whole transaction and all the licenses granted with it.

  • You cannot delete a whole transaction to delete all the licenses in it, nor delete all the transaction items from a transaction (at least one transaction item is required).

Suspend a transaction’s licenses

You can suspend an organization’s or a user’s licenses per transaction on the Transactions tab in 10Duke SysAdmin. You can reactivate the suspended licenses later if needed.

Instead of suspending licenses, you also have the option of setting the licenses as expired by updating their validity end date.

To suspend all the licenses granted with a certain transaction:

  1. In SysAdmin in the left sidebar, go to LICENSES > either Organization or Personal, depending on whose licenses you want to suspend.

  2. Search and select the organization or user, and click Confirm.

  3. Go to the Transactions tab. The transaction table opens.

The Status column shows if a transaction is active or suspended.

  4. Select the transaction and select Actions > Suspend.

  5. Click OK to confirm.

To reactivate the licenses, go to the Transactions tab (see above), select the suspended transaction, select Actions > Resume, and click OK to confirm.

Delete licenses

You can permanently delete licenses from an organization or user on the Transactions tab in 10Duke SysAdmin.

You delete licenses through the transaction they were granted with: delete a transaction item to delete all the licenses granted with it. See how to update a transaction to delete transaction items.

If a user or a device client is currently consuming a license that was deleted, they are able to continue consuming the license until the license lease expires or the client application tries to refresh the lease, whichever comes first.

A license is also automatically deleted if you delete the license model used by the license item.

Revoke access to an organization license

In the case of organization licenses, one option is to not touch the license itself but revoke access to it.

To revoke all access to an organization’s licenses, remove access from all groups to the organization’s entitlements. Users and device clients that belong to the groups can no longer access the licenses in those entitlements.

If you need to revoke access to a specific organization license from individual users or device clients, remove them from all the groups that can access the license. Check which groups are authorized to access the entitlement that holds the license, and then remove the users or device clients from those groups on each group’s page.

In the 10Duke OrgAdmin tool, the organization’s administrator is also able to block a user or device client from using a license.

You can even remove a user’s access to any licenses (both organization or personal) in the system by ending their user account’s validity time.
